Scattered Islets from Britania

Last Mothers’ Day, my family and I decided to go on a 3-hour roadtrip from Butuan to discover this beautiful and serene untouched set of islets, all surrounded with lush blue waters and pure white sugary sand. Once you get to San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, you get welcomed by this sign directing you to Britania Islands. It’s a wonderful location for beach bummers such as myself and just appreciating the natural beauty of what our country has to offer. We may hear places like “Boracay, Palawan, Batangas, Bohol” as the must-to-go destinations every time you want to hit the beach but there’s also a lot Mindanao has to offer. I suggest you try Surigao, there are so many places to go to once you are there!

Once you arrive at the port area, friendly people greet you and offer you to avail their bangka as your means of transportation to enjoy the island-hopping experience on these wonderful islets. As our tour guide mentioned, Britania Islets was discovered just a year ago. Talk about true, virgin beauty of nature.

And now let the picture speak for themselves as I share to you my experience from Britania Islands from Surigao del Sur.

Pack your bikinis, put on your tanning oil and get your camera ready (I consider these my beach essentials), Britania Islands definitely has so much to offer which is perfect for island hopping, sunbathing, bonding with family or friends and capturing the view behind the lens of your camera.

Like they say and I like to say proud, IT DEFINITELY IS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES.

17th

It’s the 17th of the month (yes, I wrote this on May 17, 2012 but our modem decided to collapse somehow so I still shamelessly write this via Microsoft Word thank you very much) and may I say that today wasn’t so healthy for me and my Mom. As you can all recall, our  dismal experience happened way back December 17th last year and I’m still thinking whether or not to write about it but maybe I will but I’m still gathering the best words to explain that bleak memory (that was one long sentence, LOL). Okay, where was I again? Oh yeah, I’m about to rant about what occurred today, May 17, 2012.

I started my morning right, well maybe Mom shook me off the bed with a startle since she heard the creaking sound of the bathroom door when I forgot to mention Louie was sleeping over with us, so I jumped off the bed in a pinch and gave me a healthy dose of orthostatic hypotension (you might wanna Google that just in case). Then we cooked breakfast and yada-yada-yada, I went to the mall to buy food and I bought a skipping rope as to trying my best to clear off the super extra pounds I gained overtime. I got home and felt giddy so I decided to use it and SNAP! The rope decided to commit suicide and it broke itself (maybe it was its way of saying I may have lesser chance of trimming down my weight). Can you say that was bad luck? I haven’t even started yet.

Thea and I went for a jog after a super stressful day. I went for about 5 rounds around Pelaez Sports Center and I decided to stop since my heart was banging against chest wall way too much than I could handle. I seriously need to trim down on vices too, it occurred to me it’s giving me a hard time worse than I thought.

So on my way home, I was walking towards my house and my feet decided to French kiss this huge rock that almost killed my nail. OUCH. I entered the house and Mom sat down looking all shocked or traumatized then I stared at her forehead because it decided to French kiss our granite sink counter too (emphasis on the granite since it’s a super hard kind of tile and I was thankful it didn’t crack after it made hard contact on my Mom’s hard head as she said so herself) which gave her an extra hump near her eye brow. So without any second thoughts, I decided to get meat from the freezer to relieve the inflammation when in fact we have stocked canned Coke on our fridge, it’s less terrifying compared to a chunk of pork belly I tried to put against her head. What was I thinking? She even mentioned she didn’t want to do anything about being Lady Gaga wearing meat as a form of clothing. We both laughed about it anyway.

All these occurrences happening on the same day may or may not be a coincidence but it just came to me that it all boiled down to the 17th of the month taboo. Okay, I have to stop ranting now. Dad just called in for some good news. I guess after a series of unfortunate events comes a blessing when you will least expect it. I have to continuously believe that theory since I’m a terrible pessimist at times. So maybe the point of this post is that life may try to put you as the funny joke when no one is laughing, it can be silly and painful but there always will be a good thing that will prevail by the end of that road. I learned to stop fretting about the series of more unfortunate events me and my family has been going through (trust me, we’ve been through a lot than just acts of clumsiness). Again, I need to stop now before this all turns into a school reflection paper of some sort. Teehee!

PS: Today is the 18th of May and our internet connection turned on back on because our router resurrected on its own. Go figure.

Good life in Paradise

I’m back to blogging! YEY! Can someone play the drums and bugles? Anyhow, let’s not get into more nonsense celebrations as I am millenniums away from my backlogs. Too much has happened in the past few months and I can’t wait to share it all here. (That is of course assuming that there are people who are bored in their butts and instead of doing something productive in their lives, they are left with no choice than to read my blog. Teehee!)

Last April 26, 2011 we went to the beautiful beach cove paradise down south of our beautiful country, Dakak Park Beach Resort. Probably 7-8 hours land travel if you came from Cagayan de Oro and only more or less 1 hour land trip from Dipolog if you decide to travel via plane since it’s the nearest airport Dakak-bound. The roads are swirling here and there and hidden deep within Dapitan City but once you step inside the paradise, it’s mind blowing BEAUTIFUL. I’ve never seen sea waters as clear and as still as from what I’ve seen in Dakak. Amazing.

White sand, still blue waters, just enough clouds to cheer up the blue sky, oh yes it really was PARADISE. (Play Paradise by Coldplay in the background to set up the mood).

It may not be Boracay where you can get up and go party party all the way but it was really fit for rest if it was your type of recreation which in our case was, well we sorta needed it after all the sleepless nights and stress we encountered from work. (will post about this soon)

And of course the scenery was perfect to feed our vanity as I mentioned. Picture perfect views.

Not only do they have the breathtaking beach to boast, they also have pools fit for people (like us) to enjoy the kid at heart in them and just have fun swimming around and enjoy the water slides.

The best part about our Dakak trip? We got to witness a very beautiful beach wedding where I swear I couldn’t hold my tears and they just fell effortlessly from my eyes. I suck at these things, gives me a soft heart. Hahaha!

Ayan mga echosero! There’s Louie at the far right of this pic. Most echosero of all. HAHAHA!

The rest of the night we spent at Gloria’s Fantasyland. Age doesn’t matter. Strong emphasis there. We enjoyed the park like we were 5 years old or something. Watched their shows, went inside the HORROR HOUSE which is by the way a rating of 15 out of 10. It was that good!!!! Super lingaw!!!! Especially if you go inside with your barkada, makes things more complicated and crazy, just the way I like it.

Then had chill shots back at our Dapitan “home”. We also had our fair share of horror at this place where the boys’ room’s door opened by itself with no one left inside except Kuya Driver who was snoring at his bed from the far side of the room. Talk about adventure.

After 2 hours of sleep (or was that one?) we woke up with free coffee and small bite size feedings as breaky made by our Dapitan Nanay and Tatay, the hosts and owners of our Dapitan home. They were sugar sweet to us which made our stay a whole lot better.

Drove back to Dakak at exactly 6:50AM to make it in time for our 1 hour boat ride to the hidden virgin island of Aliguay.

Off aboard to our fabulous “yacht” as we prefer to call it. Haha!

An hour after, HELLO ALIGUAY!

Had our grub at the island. I swear it was like the island was all exclusive for us! It’s so peaceful. Perfect for a barkada getaway.

The island also has a great coral reef to boast as based from what we saw from our snorkeling adventure.

Plus more happy photos to prove how much we enjoyed our short stay here.

Then on our way back to Pagadian, we saw SLATER YOUNG in the middle of the highway (no he’s not a lost retard in the middle of the road but in the middle of his motorcade at Dipolog). Our car stopped, we opened our car windows and screamed at the top of our lungs!! Gave him a shock and he ended it with a smile.

And that concludes my post about my summer vacay with Higz all the way south at Dakak and Aliguay Island. And I would like to congratulate you for making it all the way here to the end of my blog. Wow, you really must be bored and all that. Haha! Kidding aside, thank you for taking your time to read my blog.

Kisskiss,

-DD
